It’s well known that there are seven wine producers in Lumbarda who do wine on professional level, meaning that their wines are regularly checked, evaluated, labeled and commercialy ditributed. It’s not lesser known that many more households in Lumbarda do wine for their own needs and occasional selling, but how serious and good they are it’s been only recently unveiled during the educational wine tasting organized by Grk-Lumbarda Association.
“Vina od konobe” (Wines from small cellars), wine festivity held for it’s first time on March 3d 2012. gathered wine amateurs and professional wine makers, enologists and wine experts of all kinds. 38 samples of local wines (19 reds and 19 whites) were brought for evaluation, and they were tasted by all attendees and of course wine experts who for their part gave professional remarks on taste and quality and finally recommendations for possible further improvements. Winemakers are generally satisfied with general notes but what makes all the community even happier is the succes of this first educational wine event which according to everyone’s opinion should become regular. Grk Lumbarda Association is thus achieving one of it’s goals on promotion of wine making and quality improvements and now we can only wait to see which amateur producer of those who attended will be the next one to enter so called “professional league”
